{"id":10362,"date":"2019-05-26T09:30:33","date_gmt":"2019-05-26T12:30:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=10362"},"modified":"2019-05-26T09:30:33","modified_gmt":"2019-05-26T12:30:33","slug":"huge-turnout-at-olivias-hope-for-every-step-5k-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=10362","title":{"rendered":"Huge turnout at Olivia\u2019s Hope for Every Step 5k walk"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FLETCHERS LAKE:<\/strong> The first ever \u201cOlivia\u2019s Hope with Every Step\u201d five kilometre walk in support of Ataxia-Telangiectasia A-T Children\u2019s Project took place May 11 in Lower Sackville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The  walk was organized by Amy DeMone, who\u2019s daughter Olivia has AT, and  took place at Second Lake Trail in the Sackville Lakes Provincial Park.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s aim was to raise money through the AT Children\u2019s Project located in the US who provide funds raised for research which can take place all over the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Besides  the walk, attended by 125 participants young and old who got to don  walk t-shirts and take to the trail raising almost $10,000 (between walk  and online donations), Hillcrest Volkswagen was donating $10 from every  test drive on May 11 towards the fundraiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/223-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10364\"\/><figcaption>(Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FLETCHERS LAKE: The first ever \u201cOlivia\u2019s Hope with Every Step\u201d five kilometre walk in support of Ataxia-Telangiectasia A-T Children\u2019s Project took place May 11 in Lower Sackville.
