{"id":10377,"date":"2019-05-24T13:00:07","date_gmt":"2019-05-24T16:00:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=10377"},"modified":"2019-05-24T13:00:07","modified_gmt":"2019-05-24T16:00:07","slug":"photos-making-cars-sparkle-for-camp-courage-at-station-45","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=10377","title":{"rendered":"PHOTOS: Making cars sparkle for Camp Courage at Station 45"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong>\n Volunteer and career firefighters from Station 45 in Fall River teamed \nup with some women participants with Camp Courage for a car wash on May \n11, raising more than $1,500 for the all-women first responders school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The  event ran for about four hours and had a steady stream of vehicles  coming in to get sparkling clean, including those from HRM Fire and  Community Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/file1-180.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10383\"\/><figcaption>Amelia McInnis gets in on the action  at the Station 45 Fall River car wash, held May 11 in support of Camp  Courage. (Healey photo) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>There were about a \ndozen participants from Camp Courage who were helping spray and clean \nall the dirt off the vehicles that paid a donation to have their car \nwashed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andrea Speranza, who oversees Camp Courage, said the goal for the day was to raise around $2,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re hear doing the car wash for our 2019 edition of the camp,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Camp Courage car wash at Stn 45\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UqMfExv7UE0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><figcaption>Camp Courage candidates at the car wash.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Camp Courage is an eight-day female mentoring program that brings together teens between the ages of 15 and 19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She was blown away by the community support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt  has been outstanding, what a great community Fall River and area is,\u201d  said Speranza. \u201cThey\u2019ve done it several years for us.
