{"id":12125,"date":"2019-08-04T12:00:39","date_gmt":"2019-08-04T15:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12125"},"modified":"2019-08-04T12:00:39","modified_gmt":"2019-08-04T15:00:39","slug":"keloose-2019-community-festival-shaping-up-to-be-fun-filled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12125","title":{"rendered":"Keloose 2019: Community festival shaping up to be fun-filled"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>WINDSOR JUNCTION: <\/strong>The 2019 Keloose is shaping up to be a bee-hive of family fun and activity at the Windsor Junction Community Centre (WJCC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The  new volunteer board has been hard at work nailing down food trucks;  amusement activities; gathering supporters and sponsors to make it as  fun as possible for the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Aug. 15, the pre-teen dance \nwill take place from 7-9 p.m. at the WJCC. It is for those ages \n9-12-years-old, and organized by the staff at the WJCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to  the generous sponsorship from Scotian Materials, the Keloose adult dance  on Aug. 17 featuring The Home Wreckers will be free. It is only open  for those 19-plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dance will run from 9 p,.m. to 1 a.m. at the LWF Hall in Fall River. The hall will open at 8 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>August  18 will see the WJCC and Windsor Junction area filled with excitement  beginning at 10 a.m. with the Kids parade. Kids day itself will start at  11 a.m. and see Hyper Amusements provide several bouncy castles; the  dunk tank; and many other fun activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tattoos by Krista will be making the kids look great from 11-1 p.m. inside the WJCC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From\n 12-1:30 p.m., Lockview High student Emily Alford of Beaver Bank will be\n giving a dart demonstration to young and old alike. Alford is the \njunior women\u2019s Canadian darts champion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Windsor Junction\u2019s very own water-skiing champion Olivia Chute will make an appearance from 12-2 p.m. signing autographs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don\u2019t  worry about making supper on Aug. 18, Keloose will have four food  trucks in attendance to fill all those stomachs in our crowd. Among the  food trucks coming will be: The Purple People Feeder;  Halifax-based Jamaica Lee Style Cuisine; Roll on Two Chimney Cakes; and  Miller\u2019s Kettle Corn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There will be fun and games from Hyper \nAmusement on hand; Sparky the fire dog will be there alongside volunteer\n firefighters from Station 45 Fall River; plus much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sarah \nMacDonald-Miles and her Links of Love will be selling their charity \nbracelets with proceeds going back to Keloose to start the fundraising \nfor the 2020 edition of the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musical and dance \nentertainment from Fall River School of Performing Arts will take place \nfrom 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m., with the Home Wreckers taking the stage at 8\n p.m. and performing until 9 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At that time, the countdown to the best fireworks in HRM will begin with them set to go off shortly after 9 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A  reminder to those attending Keloose 2019 that the WJCC is an alcohol,  smoking, drugs, vaping, and tobacco free property. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parking is only to  occur on the train tracks side of Windsor Junction Road, and there is no  parking permitted on Community Centre Lane\/McGuire Lane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Titan Security will be at the gate welcoming patrons to the event and checking bags\/backpacks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WINDSOR JUNCTION: The 2019 Keloose is shaping up to be a bee-hive of family fun and activity at the Windsor Junction Community Centre (WJCC).
