{"id":12145,"date":"2019-08-08T08:18:20","date_gmt":"2019-08-08T11:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12145"},"modified":"2019-08-08T08:18:20","modified_gmt":"2019-08-08T11:18:20","slug":"updated-police-suspect-robbery-spree-man-faces-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12145","title":{"rendered":"UPDATED: Police apprehend suspect in robbery spree; man faces array of charges"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>ENFIELD:<\/strong> Three gas stations were hit by a single robber during a half hour stint late on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Halifax District RCMP, a Halifax man hit all three gas stations\u2014all located in the HRM\u2014while driving a stolen taxi from Truro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first robbery occurred at 11:28 p.m. when the man\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At\n approximately 11:30 p.m., there was a robbery&#8211;allegedly with a knife \naccording to a witness\u2014at the Irving Big Stop on Highway 2 in Enfield. \nThe witness, a truck driver, was coming in the driver\u2019s entrance when \nthe robbery was occurring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The suspect entered a business, \ndemanded money and showed a knife. The employee gave money to the \nsuspect and the suspect left in a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At approximately 11:45 \np.m., there was a robbery on the 2900 block of Hwy 2 in Fall River, the \nPetro Canada. The suspect entered the business, put a knife on the \ncounter and demanded cigarettes and money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The employee gave the requested items to the suspect and the suspect left in a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n third robbery happened at 11:55 p.m. on the 200 block of Cobequid Rd. \nin Lower Sackville. The suspect entered a business, showed a knife and \ndemanded money and cigarettes. The employee gave the requested items to \nthe suspect and the suspect left in a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At\n approximately 12:30 a.m., an RCMP officer saw the suspect vehicle \ntravelling eastbound on the Bedford Bypass and informed Halifax Regional\n Police (HRP). HRP deployed a spike belt but the suspect avoided it and continued on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n suspect vehicle sped through a construction zone on Victoria Rd. then \nsideswiped another vehicle driving on Victoria Rd., causing damage to \nboth vehicles but no injuries. During the collision, the suspect vehicle\n spun out of control and was struck by an RCMP vehicle driven by a \npolice officer attempting to stop the suspect vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The officer\n exited the police vehicle, approached the suspect&#8217;s vehicle and opened \nthe driver\u2019s side door. Given the magnitude of the situation, the \nofficer drew their firearm and directed the suspect out of the vehicle. \nThe suspect exited the vehicle and was arrested without further \nincident. Police soon determined that the suspect vehicle had been \nstolen earlier that day from the Truro area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to police \nthe man, who suffered minor injuries during the arrest, was taken to \nhospital and later released. He is facing multiple charges including the\n following:Robbery; Possession of Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace; \nTheft of Motor Vehicle; Possession of Stolen Property; and Uttering \nThreats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some stolen cash was recovered in the vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \ninvestigation is ongoing and is being led by the General Investigation \nSection of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ENFIELD: Three gas stations were hit by a single robber during a half hour stint late on Wednesday night.
