Burn ban forces postponement of BEST Fireworks in HRM<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

WINDSOR JUNCTION: <\/strong>It\n wasn\u2019t quite Mother Nature the volunteer committee with Keloose 2019 \nhad to worry about, but the fact there was a burn ban on resulted in \npostponing the fireworks show. HRM Fire prevention made the final call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outside\n of that damper, Keloose weekend, Aug. 15 to 18, was a rousing success \nwith a new committee at the reigns of the traditional festival held at \nthe Windsor Junction Community Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe were really pleased with how things went, with the people that came out and the support from our wonderful community businesses,\u201d said event chair Jay Cameron.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He confirmed the committee is rescheduling the fireworks show by Fireworks FX to Sept. 29, shortly after 8 p.m. The night will begin at 5 p.m. The committee is working on finalizing the night\u2019s events so stay tuned to the festival\u2019s Facebook page \u201cKeloose\u201d for updates. Fire trucks and Sparky the fire dog are also scheduled to be on hand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cameron said\n the volunteer committee, which includes Lori Andrews, Nichole Stephen, \nand Jen Rideout, has already met with a look towards 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe\u2019re looking to get a jump on things and will be meeting in November and start our planning in early 2020,\u201d said Andrews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking\n of the weekend itself, the adult dance with The Home Wreckers had \naround 150 people in and out of the LWF Hall, while Kids Day at the WJCC\n and the kids parade had a good turnout and lots of fun, said Stephen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite the fireworks being cancelled, there was a steady crowd for family night and fireworks night as FRSPA and The Home Wreckers performed, and the food trucks served up supper for those in attendance. Sparky the fire dog and Station 45 Fall River\u2019s fire trucks were a main attraction among the crowd, said Rideout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
