{"id":12462,"date":"2019-09-23T13:51:56","date_gmt":"2019-09-23T16:51:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12462"},"modified":"2019-09-23T13:51:56","modified_gmt":"2019-09-23T16:51:56","slug":"motorcyclist-sustains-minor-injuries-in-fall-river-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12462","title":{"rendered":"Motorcyclist sustains minor injuries in Fall River collision"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER: <\/strong>A\n motorcyclist was taken to hospital with what was believed to be \nnon-life-threatening injuries after a two vehicle collision on Hwy 2 by \nCoach Ave. mid-afternoon on Sept. 22.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traffic was slowed near the \nscene by Fletcher Drive for about an hour as EHS, Halifax District RCMP,\n and Station 45 Fall River firefighters worked the scene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \naccident occurred as a vehicle was exiting Coach Avenue and the \nmotorcycle went to go by a turning left car into the opposite lane. The \nvehicle turning out\u2014a father and young son\u2014tried to avoid the accident \nby instead going straight across to Fletcher Drive. According to \nwitnesses, the motorcycle appeared to be going faster than the posted \nspeed limit of 60 kilometres\/hour in that stretch of road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neither of those in the vehicle were injured.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While  police directed traffic one way at a time, an officer spotted a driver  on their cellphone as they were passing the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The person, believed  to be a man, was pulled over and remained at the scene for almost 20  minutes as officers issued him a ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation into the collision is ongoing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FALL RIVER: A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with what was believed to be non-life-threatening injuries after a two vehicle collision on Hwy 2 by Coach Ave. mid-afternoon on Sept. 22.
