{"id":12477,"date":"2019-09-25T21:33:41","date_gmt":"2019-09-26T00:33:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12477"},"modified":"2019-09-25T21:33:41","modified_gmt":"2019-09-26T00:33:41","slug":"beaver-bank-boxer-looks-to-make-esker-cup-championship-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12477","title":{"rendered":"Beaver Bank boxer looks to make Esker Cup championship history"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>BEAVER BANK: <\/strong>A\n boxer from Beaver Bank along with two teammates from the Sackville area\n will don the Canadian colours as they represent the area at the \nall-female Esker Box Cup championship, being held Oct. 10-12 in Dublin, \nIreland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sierra Eshouzadeh of Beaver Bank; Sadie Allen of Upper \nSackville; and Hammonds Plains product Faith Murphy all box out of \nCitadel Boxing in Lower Sackville. All three are heading to the \nchampionships, leaving Halifax Stanfield on Oct. 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Eshouzadeh\n it will be her third time at the event, so she will be the one that \nMurphy and Allen call upon for advice at their first-ever Esker Cup.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Murphy, 12, said she is excited to get this opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201d<\/strong>I\u2019m\n excited to fight and really hoping I win,\u201d she said. \u201cGetting to go to \nthe Esker Cup means the world to me, it\u2019s incredibly exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Allen, 13, will be fighting in the 44 kilogram girls division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\n feel really lucky to be given all these opportunities to fight and \ntravel,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019ve been training really hard and preparing the \nbest I can. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOf course whenever I fight I gain experience win or lose so that\u2019s just as important.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eshouzadeh,\n 14, will be trying to make history after having won the last two years \nshe\u2019;s competed at the Esker Cup. She will be fighting in the 46 kg \nclass. She hopes to meet some new friends from other countries competing\n at the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dIt\n means a lot to me because it gives me the opportunity to make Canada \nproud this time,\u201d said Eshouzadeh. \u201cI have the chance to make Canadian \nhistory and be the first Canadian to win gold three consecutive years in\n a row.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEAVER BANK: A boxer from Beaver Bank along with two teammates from the Sackville area will don the Canadian colours as they represent the area at the all-female Esker Box Cup championship, being held Oct. 10-12 in Dublin, Ireland.
