{"id":12519,"date":"2019-10-11T00:03:02","date_gmt":"2019-10-11T03:03:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12519"},"modified":"2019-10-11T00:03:02","modified_gmt":"2019-10-11T03:03:02","slug":"eagles-francis-big-week-earns-qmjhl-accolades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12519","title":{"rendered":"Eagles Francis\u2019 big week earns QMJHL accolades"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>BEAVER BANK:<\/strong> It\u2019s been a big week for Beaver Bank\u2019s Ryan Francis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Cape Breton Eagle forward was named the week of Oct. 4 Ultramar Player of the Week in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\n three road games, the 17-year-old sniped home two markers while adding \nseven assists as the Eastern Conference leading Eagles went 2-1 on the \nweek. The week started with a 9-2 loss to Rimouski, a game which Francis\n chipped in with an assist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cape Breton then picked up a 7-2 win \nwith Francis scoring once and assisting on four others in the victory, \nbefore finishing the road trip with a 6-3 win. Francis had a goal and \ntwo helpers in the contest. His goal was the eventual game winner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Francis\n currently sits in a three-way tie for fifth in QMJHL scoring with 14 \npoints in seven games. His 11 assists are good for a second-place tie \noverall in the circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second round pick in 2017, he is \nalready nearing his previous career-high 34 points in one campaign. That\n occurred in his rookie season in 2017-2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In other news, \nFrancis and fellow Eagle Ivan Ivan have been named to the NHL Central \nScouting players to watch for the 2020n NHL Draft, scheduled to be held \nin Montreal, Quebec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to EA Sports\u2019 NHL 20 simulation, Francis is projected to go between the fifth and seventh rounds of the draft.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEAVER BANK: It\u2019s been a big week for Beaver Bank\u2019s Ryan Francis.
