{"id":12597,"date":"2019-10-16T10:00:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-16T13:00:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12597"},"modified":"2019-10-16T10:00:17","modified_gmt":"2019-10-16T13:00:17","slug":"collins-park-has-best-tasting-water","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12597","title":{"rendered":"Collins Park has best tasting water"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>WELLINGTON<\/strong>: A local water supply has been ranked as having the best tasting water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At\n the Atlantic Canada Water and Wastewater Association annual conference,\n held Oct. 6-8 at the Halifax Marriott Harbourfront hotel, the water at \nthe Collins Park water supply plant in Wellington was chosen among the \n10 entries as tops in the \u201cBest of the Best Water Taste Test.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n water supply for Collins Park is Lake Fletcher. The lake is part of the\n Shubenacadie River Watershed \u201ccorridor\u201d, which includes the following: \nLake Charles; Lake William; Lake Thomas; Grand Lake; and Shubenacadie \nRiver.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Collins Park was developed in the early 1970s using on-site\n water and sewage services. Elevated arsenic concentrations were found \nin a considerable number of drilled wells in the late middle to late \n1970\u2019s, and in 1984\/85 the Municipality of the County of Halifax \nconstructed a water treatment and distribution systems to service the \narea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although developed to service the \u201cCollins Park \nSubdivision\u201d, the water distribution system also services a section of \nthe adjacent Kendalmark Estates subdivision in Wellington.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WELLINGTON: A local water supply has been ranked as having the best tasting water.
