{"id":12802,"date":"2019-11-14T13:05:41","date_gmt":"2019-11-14T17:05:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12802"},"modified":"2019-11-14T13:05:41","modified_gmt":"2019-11-14T17:05:41","slug":"aerotech-connector-may-face-delays","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12802","title":{"rendered":"Aerotech Connector may face delays"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>More information for EA required before Minister can make decision<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WELLINGTON:<\/strong> The construction of the Aerotech Connector in Wellington could be delayed up to a year-plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In  his recent decision on its Environmental Assessment, Nova Scotia  Environment Minister Gordon Wilson said the Registration Document  provided is insufficient to allow him to make a decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI \nrequire additional information,\u201d said Wilson in his decision, dated Oct.\n 30 on the TIR website. \u201cSpecifically, the review determined that the \nfollowing additional information is required in order to evaluate \npotential environmental effects that may be caused by the undertaking.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among\n the information Wilson is looking for includes: additional information \non the alternative road routes as reported in the EA registration \ndocument (section 1.5 &#8211; Alternatives to the Project); additional \ninformation on surface water resources for the preferred road alignment \nas presented in the EA registration document; provide clarification \nsurrounding the potential impacts to local drainage and watercourses \nassociated with the proposed works: and provide a comprehensive plan to \nprotect public and community private drinking water supplies including \nmitigative options to address potential impacts associated within the \nCollin\u2019s Park drinking water supply watershed area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marla MacInnis, spokeswoman with N.S. Transportation, confirmed that more information was required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey\n (NSE) has asked for additional information to assess the potential \nimpacts and proposed mitigations for the Aerotech Connector project,\u201d \nsaid MacInnis in an email response to <em>The Laker<\/em>. \u201cWe are \nreviewing the Ministers\u2019 decision now and will soon meet with the \ndepartment to better understand their expectations ahead of preparing a \nresponse.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She wasn\u2019t sure what the impact on the construction timeline for the much needed highway interchange would be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe\n construction timeline is dependent on Environmental Assessment \napproval,\u201d said MacInnis. \u201cIt is too early to say what the impact to the\n schedule will be.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More information for EA required before Minister can make decision WELLINGTON: The construction of the Aerotech Connector in Wellington could be delayed up to a year-plus.
