The most recent published piece that keeps
the reader on a “wild ride” is The Russian.

“Before I found my
publisher I had Tell Me More, the first book, and The Russian written,”
said Kelln inside his St. Andrews Village home. “I knew I wanted to
carry the story on and continue talking about the characters and
exploring them.

“It was a matter of getting the first book out.”

“The
Russian” finds Blake in the middle of an international debacle. While
his wife continues to struggle with the multiple tragedies that have
befallen their family, including the disappearance of their son some
three years ago, and while he tries to care for her, Blake gets assigned
a new client from the Special Services Coordination for High-Value
Assets (or SSCHVA for short) only to find out that this patient is a
controversial Russian submariner who is officially listed as dead.

Before
Blake can even meet the man, a hostage-taking on a Halifax Harbour
ferry draws the attention of police, and they enlist his services.

Kelln
does include a bit of irony in the book. Blake only got asked to help
the police out because the regular guy is off on a basketball trip with
his son (Kelln is dad to Jake, a star basketball player with Lockview
High’s boys team).

“There’s a lot of stuff going on in the book,” he said.

He
was expecting it to be out in stores and online retail shops such as
Amazon; Indigo/Chapters; and more by the end of November.

Kelln
said the first book established some of the plot lines and characters,
then “The Russian” explores more of what he has experienced as a private
psychologist himself and one who does work with the RCMP.

“One of
the things I wanted to focus on in this book was around the involvement
of crisis negotiation, which is work that I do and am still under
contract to provide that service to the RCMP,” said Kelln. “I wanted to
put some real-life stuff in to this. I thought it would be fun to
include a scenario of a lot of the stuff I’m familiar with.”

He said people not putting his book down is one thing that is extremely important to him.

“When
I start out doing a new series/book I write something I would want to
read myself,” Kelln said. “What I like to read is stuff that moves along
quickly, that has quick chapters, interesting scenarios, and keeps you
hooked and interested.”

If that’s the case, Kelln has another winner because like “Tell Me More,” “The Russian” does that with ease.

Sequel to Tell Me More, The Russian has Blake Waiter in an International debacle FALL RIVER: Brad Kelln doesn’t want you to put his latest book down.
