{"id":12920,"date":"2019-11-27T21:18:31","date_gmt":"2019-11-28T01:18:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=12920"},"modified":"2019-11-27T21:18:31","modified_gmt":"2019-11-28T01:18:31","slug":"beaver-bank-teen-riley-chisholm-releases-debut-single-nov-29","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=12920","title":{"rendered":"Beaver Bank teen Riley Chisholm releases debut single Nov. 29"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>BEAVER BANK: <\/strong>Riley Chisholm says he owes most if not all of his success in getting his debut single released to a well known Halifax figure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chisholm,\n a Lockview High student who hails from Beaver Bank, said getting to the\n point of having \u201cRight Hand Side\u201d released on Nov. 29 all began with a \ncall from Quentrel Provo, also better known as \u201cMr Stop the Violence\u201d in\n Halifax. Provo saw him perform and knew he could work with Chisholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe\n said he wanted to meet with me and got me singing lessons,\u201d said \nChisholm, sitting inside the Tim Hortons on Beaver Bank Road. \u201cHe taught\n me as much as he could. One day I got a message from him about the IPOP\n audition.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He went to that audition, and then train with an agency in Halifax. Chisholm was picked to go to IPOP out of 500 people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI went to IPOP, and won four awards for singing, acting, and modelling,\u201d said Chisholm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That success led to 23 callbacks\u2014most people at  these competitions get two or three, Chisholm and his family were told.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\n went to Toronto and I met with TM Management and Roy Hamilton III who \nwas my producer,\u201d he said. \u201cWe made three songs and now it\u2019s time to \nrelease the first one.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a video planned for the first single, however it won\u2019t be released until likely next year after its filmed in Toronto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chisholm said he wasn\u2019t expecting all the success he has had to date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cComing\n from such a small place like here, in Beaver Bank, I think it\u2019s pretty \namazing,\u201d he said. \u201cIt really came out of nowhere. I can\u2019t thank \nQuentrel enough because I wouldn\u2019t be here without him. It\u2019s been a \nphenomenal experience.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where did Chisholm get the inspiration to write \u201cRight Hand Side?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s\n just something I have in my head and I can manipulate it into lyrics,\u201d \nhe said. \u201cA lot of times I write about how I feel and life experiences. \nThis song just came to me one day and I went with that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cRight \nHand Side\u201d will be available Nov. 29 at: Spotify; Apple Music; iTunes; \nTikTok; iHeartRadio; Kkbox; Amazon; and many other music networks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BEAVER BANK: Riley Chisholm says he owes most if not all of his success in getting his debut single released to a well known Halifax figure.
