{"id":13024,"date":"2019-12-06T19:00:38","date_gmt":"2019-12-06T23:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=13024"},"modified":"2019-12-06T19:00:38","modified_gmt":"2019-12-06T23:00:38","slug":"junk-works-up-for-two-halifax-chamber-of-commerce-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=13024","title":{"rendered":"Junk Works up for two Halifax Chamber of Commerce awards"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong> A business owned and operated by a Fall River family is a finalist for two Halifax Chamber of Commerce 2020 Business Awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Junk Works Halifax is a finalist for Innovative Business of the Year and Business Leader of the Year categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\n \u201cInnovative Business of the Year\u201d is dedicated to a Halifax business \nthat has introduced an innovative product or service within the past \nyear. Junk Works Halifax is recognized as a finalist in this category \nfor the introduction of its mini dumpster, a smaller version of its \nregular dumpsters, making its services more accessible to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sherry Willison, co-owner of Junk Works Halifax, is also one of five finalists in the \u201cBusiness Leader of the Year\u201d category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis\n is a prestigious honor for us and it is especially humbling we are the \nonly business that is a finalist in two categories,\u201d said Willison. \u201cThe\n introduction of the mini dumpsters was a big step for us, but our hope \nwith this was to expand our reach and encourage more individuals to \nrecycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are happy to see those efforts are being acknowledged and embraced by our community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Willison said the company owes both of their nominations to every one of their team members and each of their customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWithout\n them, achieving all that we have in just a little over three years \nwouldn\u2019t have been possible,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re looking forward to the \ngala in January and continuing to establish ourselves as the greenest \njunk removal business in the Halifax area.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its 2<sup>0th<\/sup>year,\n the Halifax Business Awards is an opportunity to showcase Halifax\u2019s \nbest and brightest business leaders and entrepreneurs. It is hosted by \nthe Halifax Chamber of Commerce and finalists are picked by a panel \nspearheaded by Gina Gale, Senior Vice President of BDC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are \nsix award categories including \u201cBusiness of the Year,\u201d \u201cSmall Business \nof the Year,\u201d \u201cNew Business of the Year,\u201d \u201cExport Business of the Year,\u201d\n \u201cInnovative Business of the Year\u201d and \u201cBusiness Leader of the Year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Winners will be announced at a gala event on Thursday, January 23 at the Halifax Convention Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>  [adrotate group=&#8221;4&#8243;]  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FALL RIVER: A business owned and operated by a Fall River family is a finalist for two Halifax Chamber of Commerce 2020 Business Awards.
