This is not the Nova Scotia plan to re-open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/6920668\/ns-covid19-update-may-8\/\">Global Halifax<\/a>, Dr. Strang said the key is balancing the risk posed by reopening sectors of the province with the need to increase economic and social activity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/UpdateMay8-1-1024x712.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14342\"\/><figcaption>Premier Stephen McNeil. (Communications N.S. photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Both Premier Stephen McNeil and Dr. Strang indicated cautious optimism, with the ability to relax the province\u2019s COVID-19 restrictions dependent on meeting health criteria and not a set date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no timeline for Nova Scotia\u2019s next steps although COVID19 cases in the province are trending in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the presentation, released at the COVID19 press briefing on May 8 in Halifax, some goals they have include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 There is some risk of increased transmission with reopening sectors of society<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 We must balance this risk with the need to increase economic and social activity for the health of all Nova Scotians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Every attempt will be made to minimize risk by rapidly identifying cases and contacts as they emerge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/UpdateMay8-5-777x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14344\"\/><figcaption>Dr. Robert Strang.
