{"id":14476,"date":"2020-05-22T13:53:43","date_gmt":"2020-05-22T16:53:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=14476"},"modified":"2020-05-22T13:53:43","modified_gmt":"2020-05-22T16:53:43","slug":"retired-elmsdale-doctor-victim-of-fatal-motorcycle-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=14476","title":{"rendered":"Retired Elmsdale doctor victim of fatal motorcycle crash"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>GOFFS:<\/strong> A recently retired doctor from the Elmsdale Medical Centre has been identified online by friends as the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash on Thursday night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Halifax District RCMP say that officers responded to a 911 call of a single-vehicle collision shortly after 8 p.m. in the 1200 block of Old Guysburough Road in Goffs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;36&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cpl. Lisa Croteau, media spokeswoman with Halifax District RCMP, said the motorcycle was traveling eastbound and left the roadway. The police release did not identify the victim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The driver was identified by friends who knew him as Dr. Bruce Montgomery, 63, of Enfield. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cpl. Croteau said Old Guysborough Rd. was closed for several hours while an RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our thoughts are with the victim\u2019s family and friends at this difficult time,&#8221; said Cpl.
