{"id":15893,"date":"2020-07-29T15:38:45","date_gmt":"2020-07-29T18:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=15893"},"modified":"2020-07-29T15:38:45","modified_gmt":"2020-07-29T18:38:45","slug":"government-projects-852-m-deficit-as-a-result-of-covid19-impact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=15893","title":{"rendered":"Government projects $852 m deficit as a result of COVID19 impact"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> The first update on Budget 2020-21 shows the COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on the province&#8217;s fiscal forecast.<br \/><br \/>Finance and Treasury Board Minister Karen Casey presented the update today, July 29. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Government is forecasting a deficit of $852.9 million for the 2020-21 fiscal year, a $907.9 million change from the $55 million surplus anticipated in February.<br \/><br \/>&#8220;Our strong economy was an advantage entering this pandemic.
