MILFORD:<\/strong> Local fire departments were a tad bit busier during the month of July as the sounds of their people went off on their pagers and their I Am Responding cell phone apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is a look at calls for the month for Milford Fire; Kennetcook Fire; Nine Mile River Fire; Indian Brook Fire; Mount Uniacke Fire; Enfield Fire; Rawdon Fire; Lantz Fire; Stewiacke Fire; Shubenacadie Fire; and Elmsdale Fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Milford Fire responded to 12 calls last month, led by seven motor vehicle collisions calls. They had eight calls in their own district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total they had four mutual aid to neighbouring communities calls (two to Indian Brook, which included an motor vehicle collision (mvc) on July 16 and a possible structure fire in a residence on July 20); one to Stewiacke (possible structure fire in a residence on July 6); and one to Shubenacadie (mvc in Mill Village on July 3).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The calls in Milford were motor vehicle collisions on Hwy 102 on July 8; Hwy 102 at Exit 9 on July 20; mvc on Hwy 102 July 28 and 29; and an mvc at Hwy 2 and Hwy 14 by the Foodland entrance on July 30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The firefighters also had grass fire calls at Exit 9 on July 14 (an illegal burn); grass fire at exit 9 on July 15; and a commercial fire alarm activation on July 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a month of no calls for June, Kennetcook Fire heard their pagers go off six times during July. They responded to two vehicle fires; one ATV accident; one woods rescue; on motor vehicle collision\/medical assist; and one structure fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine Mile River Fire were paged out to six calls, with three of them being motor vehicle collisions. The other three calls were mutual aid requests from neighbouring departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indian Brook fire responded to six calls, led by two mutual aid requests. The others were a residential fire alarm activation; a commercial fire alarm activation; one motor vehicle collision; and on structure fire (fire was out by homeowners upon fire\u2019s arrival).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Uniacke Fire in Mount Uniacke, their pagers and fire trucks went out the doors eight times in July. The fire department responded to three motor vehicle collisions; two other\/misc. calls; one fire alarm activation; one spill; and one structure fire call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfield Fire responded to four alarm activation calls among the eight times they were paged out in the month. They also went for two motor vehicle collisions; one other call; and one mutual aid request call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rawdon Fire had two motor vehicle collision responses and two residential fire alarm calls lead their total of eight. They also had two mutual aid responses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The other calls were one special service call and one structure fire call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Lantz Fire, they responded to assist community residents nine times, led by four motor vehicle collisions. They also had two structure fires; two alarm activations; and one public assist call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stewiacke Fire had three calls, with one each of a structure fire; a mutual aid request; and a motor vehicle collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shubenacadie Fire responded to five motor vehicle collisions in July, a month that saw them have a dozen calls. Their other responses were three alarm activations; two brush\/grass fires; and two structure fire calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Elmsdale Fire, they had 10 motor vehicle collisions and five alarm activations putting their 15 for the month as the most calls among area volunteer fire departments for July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
