MILFORD: <\/strong>A 38-year-old man has been charged by police with damaging a home after the vehicle he was driving crashed into it in the early morning hours of Aug. 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a release on Aug. 11, RCMP said that at 7:40 a.m. on Aug. 8, East Hants RCMP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A truck had struck the front of a home in Milford causing property damage and then fled prior to police arrival,” said Cpl. Lisa Croteau, RCMP spokeswoman. “The truck was located a short time later, abandoned, in a school parking lot in Milford. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Members searched the area for the suspect and with the help of witnesses, were able to locate him hiding in a wooded area nearby.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cpl. Croteau said the suspect, who showed signs of impairment, was arrested without incident. He was transported to Enfield RCMP Detachment but he refused to provide samples of his breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brannon Wayne Hooper, 38, was remanded into custody and appeared in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on August 10.\u00a0 He is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on September 14. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hopper is charged with Dangerous Operation; Impaired Operation of a Conveyance (vehicle); Refusal of the Breath Demand; Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident; and two counts of Failing to Comply with Recognizance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
