{"id":16193,"date":"2020-08-19T23:17:33","date_gmt":"2020-08-20T02:17:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=16193"},"modified":"2020-08-19T23:17:33","modified_gmt":"2020-08-20T02:17:33","slug":"new-kitchen-facilities-opens-at-wellington-fletchers-lake-hall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=16193","title":{"rendered":"New kitchen facilities opens at Wellington\/Fletchers Lake hall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;79&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WELLINGTON:<\/strong> With restrictions easing related to COVID19 for food establishment facilities and non-profit community halls, like the one at Station 42 in Wellington, the new operator of the kitchen facility at the Station House spoke to the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a special presentation to the volunteer committee for work on the hall, Scott Hope talked to The Laker News about the opening and operation of the Station House BBQ and Lounge, which will open every Thursday and Friday night from 6-10 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope is a chef by trade and is now bringing his expertise to the community he calls home. In the two weeks it has been open, they have received nothing but rave reviews from customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve had a great opportunity to expand here from the caf\u00e9 on base which has been running for five years,\u201d said Hope. \u201cWe\u2019re opening up here. It\u2019ll be a full-service kitchen with dine in and takeout options available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He has always been deeply passionate about bringing people together using food. Hope was a Marine Engineer with the Navy for seven years, before switching over to culinary to pursue a passion of cooking for the Military.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope said they have faith they will be expanding the operating hours in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe hope to add additional days and hours as we progress,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He admits to some hesitation to opening Station House BBQ and Lounge post-COVID19 era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure I wanted to run something in the post-COVID times but having a chance to run something in my community, local, and for my community has been inspirational to try it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;21&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The kitchen will have a small menu available\u2014with just four menu items on it. That will include smoked hamburgers; chickenburgers; roast beef sandwich; and a homemade Pastrami sandwich.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019ll all be available for our customers to purchase,\u201d said Hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He spoke about the background work that took place to get the facility and business up and running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAdjusting to the new restaurant world with COVID has been educational for me,\u201d said Hope. \u201cYou get to see the community come together and really push for something that is needed here now more than ever.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope made a pledge to the community on why they should give them a try.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s fresh BBQ, and it\u2019s affordable,\u201d he said. \u2018What we\u2019re looking to do is draw people in, create a warm community environment where you can get a bite toe at and a cold refreshment, and carry on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou will also be supporting a community venture that supports your community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;9&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WELLINGTON: With restrictions easing related to COVID19 for food establishment facilities and non-profit community halls, like the one at Station 42 in Wellington, the new operator of the kitchen facility at the Station House spoke to the community.
