If there&#8217;s one lesson to take away from these challenging times of lockdowns and social distancing, it\u2019s the importance of natural spaces for our physical and mental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our parks are essential, yet many Nova Scotians lack access to local green spaces. The community of Upper Sackville has been waiting 6 years for a park of its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sackville River \u2013 Lewis Lake Wilderness Park was promised for protection by the Nova Scotia government in 2013, but it still has not received a legal designation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This 1600-acre wilderness park is an ideal outdoor playground for walking, biking, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking in Upper Sackville. It&#8217;s home to forest and wetland ecosystems, and near the headwaters of the Sackville River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All that\u2019s needed is a signature from the Nova Scotia government to make this wilderness park a reality. No more delays. Upper Sackville deserves its park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s our turn now.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Walter N.
