SHUBENACADIE:<\/strong> Here is a look at the calls for the month of August 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participating fire departments from Shubenacadie; Stewiacke; Nine Mile River; Enfield; Elmsdale; Indian Brook; Kennetcook; Mount Uniacke; Rawdon; and Milford provided call information for their departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other departments were contacted but as of publishing time they had not been received.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Shubenacadie Fire<\/strong>, they responded to 10 calls, led by six motor vehicle collision calls. They also had four alarm activations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five of the calls were in Shubie, while the other five were mutual aid requests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Enfield Fire<\/strong> were paged to 10 calls in the month, with motor vehicle collisions topping the tally at four. The firefighters also attended two alarm activations; two brush fires; one mutual aid request to a neighbouring department; and one structure fire<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Indian Brook Fire<\/strong>, they had two calls which included one residential fire alarm activation, which turned out to be a false alarm; and one mutual aid request for a motor vehicle collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nine Mile River fire <\/strong>had a quiet month of August with four calls, one each of a woods fire; motor vehicle collision; fire investigation; and a mutual aid request.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fire Chief Tyler Dauphinee said the department is recruiting and encourages any Nine Mile River area resident to drop by the hall during training sessions on Wednesday nights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Uniacke & District Fire<\/strong> Department, the members had 11 calls, led by five motor vehicle collisions. They also heard the \u201csound of their people\u201d for one brush fire; one car fire; one dumpster fire; one medical assist; one mutual aid request; and one structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The department wished all residents to stay safe during the upcoming month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stewiacke fire<\/strong> responded to six calls, led by two woods\/grass fires and two motor vehicle collisions. They also had one fire investigation and one power line fire call.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Rawdon Fire<\/strong>, they had six calls, led by three motor vehicle collisions. They also had one vehicle fire; one pwoer lines down; and one mutual aid request. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a quiet August for Milford Fire <\/strong>with just three calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One was a motor vehicle collision on Hwy 102 on Aug. 4, where they were assisted by Shubie and Elmsdale Fire; one was a commercial fire alarm at Hants East Rural High on Aug. 26, with mutual aid from Shubie fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final call was mutual aid to Shubie for a motor vehicle collision at Atlantic Motorsport Park in North Salem on Aug. 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Elmsdale Fire,<\/strong> they had nine calls with four each of fire calls and motor vehicle collisions and one response for a fire investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kennetcook fire <\/strong>responded to three calls in August, with firefighters attending one each of an industrial accident; a brush fire; and a motor vehicle collision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lantz Fire <\/strong> had not filed their information before we published prior to the long weekend. If we receive them we will update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
