{"id":16902,"date":"2020-09-21T02:37:47","date_gmt":"2020-09-21T05:37:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=16902"},"modified":"2020-09-21T02:37:47","modified_gmt":"2020-09-21T05:37:47","slug":"supporting-the-iwk-one-lemonade-drink-at-a-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=16902","title":{"rendered":"Supporting the IWK one lemonade drink at a time"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;79&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>WINDSOR JUNCTION: <\/strong>Having needed the IWK Children\u2019s Hospital in her young years herself, it was easy for Grace Cameron to decide on who would benefit from a lemonade and chocolate chip cookie fundraiser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a cool, but sunny September weekend (Sept. 19), the Waverley Memorial School student setup her lemonade stand at the corner of Waterford Crescent and Ingram Drive, across from Canterbury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using just word of mouth from her parents Rosie and Jay\u2019s Facebook pages, along with shares by friends and The Laker News, Grace was ready to make sales to anyone who drove by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI thought that they could use the help because they couldn\u2019t hold their fundraiser the Telethon this year,\u201d said Grace when asked why she held it. \u201cI know they help a lot of children like me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The youngster raised more than $250 all of which will go to the IWK. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>She has had to use their services before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey have had to help me out a couple of times when I was younger,\u201d said Grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea came about at the last second to even do it. So that meant she went to work making the cookies, with help of mom, and the lemonade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;I decided to do it last night (Sept. 18),&#8221; said Grace. &#8220;I had been bored so while we were talking I mentioned how I like to do this lemonade stand.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grace was ecstatic with how quickly she sold out of her goodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was amazingly quick,\u201d she said. \u201cI couldn\u2019t believe it.
