SHUBENACADIE:<\/strong> Students at Shubenacadie District Elementary School held a special flag raising ceremony on an overcast Friday Oct. 2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school raised the Mi’kmaq flag in recognition of Mi’kmaq Heritage Month that is October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before the kids raised the flag, there was a short ceremony which included a smudge from Patsy Paul Martin, Chignecto-Central Regional School Board Facilitator of First Nations Education, and drumming from the Eastern Eagle Singers from nearby Sipekne’katik First Nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
