DARTMOUTH: <\/strong>It\u2019s back-to-back junior varsity girl\u2019s soccer championships for the Lockview High Dragons girl\u2019s soccer team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On a sunny, but windy which made it cold Friday afternoon Oct. 23, the Dragons battled Halifax West with the championship and a berth in the provincials on the line. The game was played before mostly just family at the All-Weather Turf field in Dartmouth, with COVID contact tracing protocols in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While it was Lockview who would come out on top, early on it was a game Halifax West Warrior team that struck first blood to take a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shortly after, the Dragons tied the game up, and from that point on the bulk of the play would be in the Warriors end as Lockview kept the pressure up and scored again, then once more in the second half for a 3-1 final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maggie White notched two tallies, while Liv Cox found the back of the net with the other goal for Lockview High.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On White\u2019s first goal she broke down the middle and beat two defenders and hit the ball with enough juice that it was too hot to handle for the Halifax West keeper and it went across the goal line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dragons had a few other scoring chances, including a pair by no. 12 Chantelle Lunn, but the kick was just high or wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lydia Ramsay stood tall in net when she needed to be for the Dragons to help them punch their provincial ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Dragons now advance to provincials set to be held over two weekends Oct. 31 and Nov. 7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No word on how the LHS JV boys team did at their regionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
