FALL RVER:<\/strong> With the Lions Christmas Express needing the communities support, it only made sense for another community-minded organization to step up to the plate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Lawrence Spencer, representing the Fall River Garden Club, was on hand at the LWF Community Hall on Nov. 23 to make the presentation of their cheque to the Lions Christmas Express. The presentation had been planned for outside, but the heavy rains at the time (about 4:30 p.m.) prevented that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cOne of the reasons we\u2019re able to do this with the funds is we collect money from our plant sale,\u201d said Spencer. \u201cWe usually hold our plant sale once a year at the Waverley Legion, but this year it was held here at the LWF Hall in the bays.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”7″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n He said none of the plants they sold had a price on them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe didn\u2019t price any of them, but instead asked people to give a generous donation which they did overabundance,\u201d he said. \u201cAs a result, we had a lot of money, so we are donating this money to the Lions Christmas Express.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”7″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Garden Club has more than 30 members and look after the gardens that are at Jamieson Park (between GP Vanier and Ash Lee Jefferson Schools) on Fall River Road; the Fireman\u2019s Museum; and the LWF Hall near Windsor Junction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIf the community wasn\u2019t supporting us with our plant sale, we wouldn\u2019t be able to do this,\u201d said Spencer. \u201cIt\u2019s much more useful to them this year then any other year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI hope everybody can find it in their heart to make a donation to the Lions Christmas Express this year.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Barry Dalrymple from the Christmas Express was on hand to accept the cheque.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
