MOUNT UNIACKE:<\/strong> A taxi driver from Lower Sackville who drives in the Mount Uniacke area has been charged with theft over $5,000, the RCMP announced on Dec. 3 in a release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to N.S RCMP spokesman Sgt. Andrew Joyce, on Nov. 23 police\u00a0received a report that\u00a0the accused\u00a0had been driving a taxi in the East Hants area, stole the client\u2019s bank card and\u00a0gained access to the client’s PIN #. <\/p>\n\n\n\n He used that information\u00a0to steal\u00a0more than $20,000 from the victim over a period of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”2″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n On December 2, police charged Rodney Bryan McCarthy, 57, with Theft over $5,000, and Uttering Threats related to the victim of the theft. McCarthy was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Shubenacadie Provincial Court on January 18, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sgt. Joyce said investigators\u00a0believe there may be additional victims. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Anyone who\u00a0thinks they could be a victim, or knows someone who could be a victim, is encouraged to contact East Hants RCMP at 902-883-7077. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
