Thirteen new cases are being reported from Dec. 25-28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Dec. 25 and 26 nine cases were reported: six in Central Zone, two in Northern Zone and one in Eastern Zone. All are linked to close contacts or travel outside of Atlantic Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Dec. 27 three cases were reported, all in Central Zone. All are linked to close contacts or travel outside of Atlantic Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today, Dec. 28, one case is being reported. It is in Central Zone and is a close contact of a previous case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<br \/><br \/>&#8220;I hope everyone has been celebrating the last few days safely and in small groups,&#8221; said Premier Stephen McNeil. &#8220;We are still seeing low case numbers, and I want to thank all of you for your sacrifice, but we need to keep up the good work to contain the virus. Though the holidays are usually a time of large gatherings, remember to protect each other by following all of the public health protocols.&#8221;<br \/><br \/>Public health guidance for holidays and celebrations can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/novascotia.ca\/protect-yourself-and-others-from-coronavirus\/holidays\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/novascotia.ca\/protect-yourself-and-others-from-coronavirus\/holidays\/<\/a> .<br \/><br \/>Nova Scotia Health Authority&#8217;s labs completed 1,156 Nova Scotia tests on Dec. 24, 1,690 on Dec. 25 and 26 and 1,259 tests on Dec. 27.<br \/><br \/>Since Oct. 1, Nova Scotia has completed 108,382 tests. There have been 389 positive COVID-19 cases and no deaths. No one is currently in hospital. Cases range in age from under 10 to over 70. Three hundred and fifty-six cases are now resolved. Cumulative cases may change as data is updated in Panorama.<br \/><br \/>&#8220;I want to thank people who followed the public health guidance over Christmas. We need to keep it going this week as we head to the New Year,&#8221; said Dr. Robert Strang, Nova Scotia&#8217;s chief medical officer of health. &#8220;Do your part by wearing a mask, limiting social contacts, practising social distancing, adhering to the gathering limit, staying home when feeling unwell and washing your hands frequently.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;94&#8243;]<br \/><br \/>Visit <a href=\"https:\/\/covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca\/<\/a> to do a self-assessment if in the past 48 hours you have had or you are currently experiencing:<br \/>&#8212; fever (i.e. chills\/sweats) or cough (new or worsening)<br \/><br \/>Or:<br \/>Two or more of the following symptoms (new or worsening):<br \/>&#8212; sore throat<br \/>&#8212; runny nose\/nasal congestion<br \/>&#8212; headache<br \/>&#8212; shortness of breath\/difficulty breathing<br \/><br \/>Call 811 if you cannot access the online self-assessment or wish to speak with a nurse about your symptoms.<br \/><br \/>When a new case of COVID-19 is confirmed, public health works to identify and test people who may have come in close contact with that person. Those individuals who have been confirmed are being directed to self-isolate at home, away from the public, for 14 days.<br \/><br \/>Anyone who has travelled outside of Atlantic Canada must self-isolate for 14 days. As always, any Nova Scotian who develops symptoms of acute respiratory illness should limit their contact with others until they feel better.<br \/><br \/>It remains important for Nova Scotians to strictly adhere to the public health order and directives &#8211; practise good hand washing and other hygiene steps, maintain a physical distance when and where required. Wearing a non-medical mask is mandatory in most indoor public places.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;2&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<br \/><br \/>Rules concerning interprovincial travel within Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador have changed. The premiers of all four Atlantic provinces are cautioning against non-essential travel into neighbouring provinces. Currently, all non-essential travel into Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Newfoundland and Labrador requires a 14-day self-isolation. All public health directives of each province must be followed.
