ENFIELD:<\/strong> During the past two weeks, East Hants RCMP officers responded to 170 calls for service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Below, S\/Sgt. Cory Bushell provides some highlighted calls from Dec. 22, 2020 to Jan. 5, 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Dec. 23, members were conducting a checkpoint on Mill Village Road. A vehicle pulled up, and when the driver was asked to produce his license, he advised his wallet is at home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officer was not content with that response, so members conducted the appropriate checks and determined the driver, a 49-year-old East Hants man had his license previously revoked. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver was charged, and his passenger drove home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 54-year-old Walton area man has been charged for not following provincial health order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Dec. 29, East Hants RCMP were alerted to the Walton area where a local resident who had been out of the Atlantic region was failing to self-isolate as directed under the Health Protection Act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The resident was charged under the act and received a $1,000 fine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Dec. 30, members were called to the East Noel area for a report of a vehicle crash into a power pole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\/Sgt. Bushell said the driver was injured and taken to hospital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cInvestigators determined the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver, a 25-year-old East Hants man, was charged with impaired driving. He will appear in court at a later date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During this period, 21 drivers were pulled over for speeding. Of those, seven were charged for infractions, while 14 were provided with a written warning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

S\/Sgt. Bushell said that members responded to three reports of Break and Enter into a residence. One was in Moose Brook; one in Enfield; and the last in Shubenacadie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police are asking anyone with information on these or any other crimes to contact the East Hants RCMP or Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said East Hants RCMP does regularly receive tips made to\u00a0Crimes Stoppers.\u00a0 These tips are extremely helpful in solving local crime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
