ELMSDALE:<\/strong> The provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) answered some questions on several projects that The Laker News asked about last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n TIR spokesman Steve Warburton was asked for updates on the Lantz Interchange and the work on the nearby Nine Mile River bridges; and the Aerotech Connector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There had been light talk of naming the road to the Lantz Interchange in honour of the victims from April\u2019s mass shooting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe understand that many people continue to look for ways to honour the victims of the April tragedy,\u201d said Warburton. \u201cWe cannot comment further as this is a private road.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u00a0On the name Aerotech Drive appearing on maps online (such as the Maps app and Google Maps) already for a road that doesn\u2019t yet exist, Warburton confirmed it will indeed be named Aerotech Drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The road is located on the maps where the actual Aerotech Connector in Wellington will be,<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWhen an existing road is continued, government\u2019s policy is that the new road be given the same name,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”95″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Warburton said work on the Nine Mile River bridge on Highway 102, adjacent to the Elmsdale Shopping Mall, is on schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis bridge construction is also on budget,\u201d he said. \u201cThe anticipated completion date is December 2021.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n On the Lantz Interchange itself, he also provided an update.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs part of that project, work on construction of the interchange, including the connector roads and intersection, is scheduled to begin this June,\u201d said Warburton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”2″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”30″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”25″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”93″] [adrotate banner=”105″] ELMSDALE: The provincial Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) answered some questions on several projects that The Laker News asked about last week.
