(Andrew Nichols photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In photos snapped by Andrew Nichols, one of those who called 911, raging flames could be seen as it levelled the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dean said the two-storey house was fully involved as firefighters arrived.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur fire crews went to the defensive mode to ensure the safety of our crews since there was nobody inside,\u201d said Dean. \u201cThere was nothing we could save at that point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe did a risk assessment, and the decision was to do a defensive fire attack, and that\u2019s what we did.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/EsxZevlWMAEyxWE-e1611792193542.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-19481\"\/><figcaption>The flames are seen through the bushes from Fall River Road. (Andrew Nichols photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fall River Road by George Jackson Road reopened about 8:15 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dean said fire investigators were just arriving on scene as he spoke to The Laker News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some nearby residents commented online that the fire was scary for them with how close it was to their residences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the house has two chimneys so that played a part in them going defensive in case they were to collapse and the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe put some water on the fire and made sure it didn\u2019t extend to the woods,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s always dangers when you come to a fire, but we try to do our job as safe as we can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dean said the investigators would hopefully give them a better idea as to what started it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;25&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;] FALL RIVER: Fire investigators are seeking a cause into a conflagrant that destroyed an abandoned home shortly after supper time on Jan. 27.
