BEAVER BANK: <\/strong>\u00a0The local municipal councillor has provided an update regarding work that CN recently did at an intersection many say needs changes to make the movement of traffic better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n HRM District 14 (Upper\/Middle Sackville-Lucasville-Beaver Bank) Councillor Lisa Blackburn posted a note on her Facebook page of the work done at Beaver Bank Road\/Windgate rail tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cCN was on site recently, removed several sections of rail and paved it over,\u201d said Blackburn in the post. \u201cCrews were sent out to do repairs and when they saw the state of the rails, the decision was made to rip them up due to safety concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said CN plans to return in the spring (when the asphalt plants are open) to reassess and see what next steps need to be taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe lights and gates have to remain on site for the time being because of Transport Canada rules,\u201d she said. \u201cOn the books, this is still an active crossing, so as much of a pain in the rear end it is, buses will still have to stop until this is addressed.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”95″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Blackburn said she met with both CN and Liberal MP Darrell Samson in the past week to discuss the situation.
