ENFIELD:<\/strong> East Hants RCMP responded to 99 calls for service throughout the Municipality of East Hants during the period of Feb. 9 to Feb. 16.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The information is provided from police reports as done up by S\/Sgt. Cory Bushell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Feb. 12, RCMP officers were conducting a checkpoint on Highway 1 in Mount Uniacke and members detected the odor of liquor on the breath of a 63-year-old driver from the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver was unable to produce his license for the officers who quickly learned the man\u2019s privileges to drive were actually suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was given a roadside screening test which confirmed the presence of alcohol in the man\u2019s system. However, it was not at a sufficient concentration to support further criminal investigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man was charged for driving while license suspended and given a further seven-day suspension for driving while under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

RCMP responded to a shoplifting complaint from a store in Elmsdale on Feb. 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect had taken a $250 electronic item and fled in a vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers were familiar with the suspect vehicle and quickly tracked the car and owner down returning to her residence. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suspect, a 31-year-old woman from the Shubenacadie area, was arrested at that time for theft. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

After further investigation, the suspect was charged with the offense of theft and released to attend court at a later date. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Valentine\u2019s Day, East Hants RCMP were called to attend a party being hosted in the Enfield area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival, police could see several people scatter about the residence and it was clear the gathering may have exceeded COVID guidelines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further investigation revealed the party was in contravention of the Health Protection Act. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The host, who attempted to deceive police upon arrival as to the true number of attendees, was issued a ticket under the Health Protection Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
