{"id":20031,"date":"2021-03-02T23:18:43","date_gmt":"2021-03-03T03:18:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=20031"},"modified":"2021-03-02T23:18:43","modified_gmt":"2021-03-03T03:18:43","slug":"enfield-fire-issues-letter-updating-residents-on-agreement-progress-with-hrm-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=20031","title":{"rendered":"Enfield fire issues letter updating residents on agreement progress with HRM Fire"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;113&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ENFIELD:<\/strong>\u00a0 The Enfield Volunteer Fire Department has issued a letter to residents in the HRM side of Enfield regarding the ongoing mutual aid negotiations with HRM Fire for coverage into that area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter from Enfield fire chief Todd Pepperdine and Deputy Chief Dale Copp was also sent to District 1 Councillor Cathy Deagle Gammon, HRM Mayor Mike Savage and others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the letter, it details background of the agreement and the payment from HRM Fire towards Enfield Fire. It has been in place since 2004.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The letter starts off saying \u201cthe closest fire department may not be the first to respond.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It then talks about the department covering the Enfield HRM, Oldham, and Hwy 102 Airport Hill area since 1957, and responding to thousands of calls. They also provide fire prevention education to students at Oldfield Consolidated School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;2&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;110&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In three tweets, Halifax Fire Chief Ken Stuebing said the following about the letter and ongoing discussions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"embed-twitter\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">a message from Chief <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KStuebing?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@KStuebing<\/a> <br>HRFE remains in negotiations with the Enfield Volunteer Fire Department in regards to signing a new service agreement for emergency response.
