(Healey photo)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER<\/strong>: It was a game that Grace Lancaster and Emma Foye were going to ensure it was nothing but a victory as the outcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two senior basketball players for the Lockview High Lady Dragons played their final home game of their high school careers on March 31. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the C.P. Allen Cheetahs keeping the game close at 28-27 for Lockview at half time, the two team leaders came out in the second half on a mission with Grace Lancaster on fire offensively, while Foye was good on the defensive side of things, leading the Dragons to a 71-45 win.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foye said there was a lot of fuming going on at the halftime break by her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI wanted to win so bad,\u201d she said. \u201cI got a bit angry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Grace Lancaster concurred.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI think we just wanted to win that game and end the season strong,\u201d she said. \u201cWe just gave it our all when we came out for the second half.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/IMG_9015-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20604\" width=\"767\" height=\"506\"\/><figcaption>The tears were flowing from Grace Lancaster and Emma Foye during the half-time ceremony. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two were taking in all of the feelings and emotions that came with the final game outside, surrounded by their \u201csecond family.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI just love this team. It\u2019s been so much fun, these four years with everyone growing as a team,\u201d said Grace Lancaster. \u201cThey\u2019re like my second family. I\u2019m going to miss them all a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foye said she couldn\u2019t have imagined playing four years of high school basketball with anyone else then the Lockview team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI couldn\u2019t have been any luckier to play four years here with Lori as a coach and Grace always in my grade with me and playing together with each other since we were younger,\u201d she said in between tears, an epitome of the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With COVID19 putting a damper on the season that made things tough, but when the green light was given by Dr. Strang, it was game on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt was hard with COVID starting off as you didn\u2019t think we were going to have a season,\u201d said Grace Lancaster. \u201cAt least we got some games in and we all came together this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEven if it\u2019s shorter because we don\u2019t get provincials, it\u2019s still amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Foye agreed the season was not the same with COVID19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe adapted and we\u2019re still killing it,\u201d said Foye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/IMG_9336-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20611\"\/><figcaption>Post-game and after a little celebration outside LHS, Emma Foye and Grace Lancaster smile as coach (and mom) Lori speaks about the two of them. (Healey photo)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;9&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Foye and Grace Lancaster left Lockview High one last time after playing their final high school game, parents of players on the team greeted them with clappers and horns and hearty cheers for a great high school career with bright future on\u2014and off-the court ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Outside after the game, coach\u2014and proud mom\u2014Lori Lancaster gave a speech talking about what Foye and her daughter meant to the team, and how they have been leaders for others on the team and an inspiration to others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong><em>She described Foye as having a determination, a \u201cquiet fierceness\u201d and leadership that has propelled her into being \u201cone of the greatest high school basketball players in N.S.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t wait to see what\u2019s in store for you,\u201d said Lancaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/IMG_8673-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20597\" width=\"566\" height=\"368\"\/><figcaption>Ellie Lancaster battles in tough for the ball. Grace has a \u201cheart of gold\u201d and her teammates meant so much to her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s always the extra eye rolls you get, or the under the breath comments are something we\u2019ve had to learn to roll with,\u201d said Lancaster. \u201cYou can imagine the discussions that take place at the Lancaster family dinner table at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p><strong>\u201cYou are me, but you\u2019re such a better me.\u201d<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Grace Lancaster is set to suit up with UPEI Panthers, following in mom Lori\u2019s footsteps, while Foye is not sure where she will be but there are irons in the fire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/IMG_8825-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-20600\" width=\"737\" height=\"480\"\/><figcaption>Leah Weatherhead looks for an open teammate against a CPA defender.
