The run\/walk will occur on April 18, starting at 7 a.m. It can be a 5K, 10K, Full or Half marathon, and start in Portapique or Masstown, depending on the length of the race. All runs can be done in person or virtually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The finish line for all races is in Victoria Park, Truro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Proceeds from the event, which is being organized by the team behind the Virtual Vigil: Nova Scotia Remembers, will be used to help fund a permanent memorial site that is being developed by the Nova Scotia Remembers Legacy Society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiff Ward, one of the lead organizers of the race, says the concept for this event is born out of a desire to show support for the families and individuals directly and indirectly impacted by the events that took place and all that they have endured this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The race is being held to mark the anniversary in a meaningful way that we hope isbeneficial to the community as a whole,” explains Ward. “Our role is entirely supportive. Grief is a very personal journey. We simply hope to offer a safe place for people to come together and show support for the families and for one another.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day also includes a commemorative walk in Victoria Park in Truro, and a private ceremony that will be Livestreamed on the Society\u2019s website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The commemorative walk will be open to the public between April 11 and April 19. Organizers are seeking volunteers and runners to participate in the event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Participants can pick up their race kit Friday, April 16 and Saturday, April 17 at the RECC, Truro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Starting Sunday, April 11 the Nova Scotia Remembers Legacy Society will hold a commemorative walk in Truro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

People can join them throughout the week of April 11 to April 19 as they pay tribute the lives lost by taking a quiet, contemplative walk through an identified trail at Victoria Park, Truro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This trail will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Along the walk there will be memorial sites to honour each life lost, where visitors can pause, grieve, reflect and remember together. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
COVID SAFETY PROTOCOL: Organizers ask that you remain six feet or more from those outside your social group and please wear a mask if possible so we can keep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
