Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong> The Department of Education and Early Childhood Education said progress is being made on what graduation ceremonies will look like this June at N.S. high schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Violet MacLeod, spokeswoman with the department, confirmed there will be grad recognition ceremonies taking place. What those look like is still in the finalization process. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Laker News asked for a progress update on discussions after having asked Dr. Robert Strang about graduations and proms in late March.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>MacLeod said the department\u2019s focus is on academic achievement and recognition of Bluenose student\u2019s province wide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe know graduation and transition celebrations are important milestones for our students and their families,\u201d MacLeod said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-large is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cOur schools will hold grad recognition ceremonies to recognize academic achievements.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>However, COVID19 will play a role in the makeup of those ceremonies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is still too early to say what that will look like because of COVID, but we are discussing with Public Health officials, principals and administrators,\u201d said MacLeod.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;123&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She also answered a query from a parent of a graduate in the Beaver Bank area sent to The Laker News on proms, and limits around that and whether an exemption will be made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPublic Health officials will establish the conditions and guidance for any events that may take place outside of school,\u201d said MacLeod. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe will share more information with our school communities as soon as we can.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;84&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;121&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;] FALL RIVER: The Department of Education and Early Childhood Education said progress is being made on what graduation ceremonies will look like this June at N.S. high schools.
