EAST HANTS:<\/strong> Three community organizations in East Hants and Sipekne\u2019katik recently received funding from the federal government\u2019s New Horizons for Seniors Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program is all about investing in programs to support seniors staying active and socially connected during COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kings-Hants MP Kody Blois recently visited Sipekne\u2019katik Band to present them with $25,000 grant to purchase iPads to connect Elders with youth in the community through technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blois then stopped by Elmsdale to present the East Hants Community Learning with $25,000 to support its community gardens and organize in-person and virtual workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was also in Enfield, where he presented $3,695 to the Magnolia Continuing Care facility so residents can participate in virtual DrumFIT class.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled that the Government of Canada is supporting 12 projects across Kings-Hants, totalling more than $239,000,\u201d said Blois. \u201cThis will help our seniors and elders stay connected to their communities, which is crucial as we continue to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
