WAVERLEY:<\/strong> A homeowner and three men have been charged with flouting the provincial Health measures related to gathering limits after a call to a home in Waverley. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Cpl. Lisa Croteau with Halifax District RCMP said police were notified of a gathering that may be in violation of COVID-19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cPolice attended and the homeowners refused to answer the door,\u201d said Cpl. Croteau.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said officers observed 11 vehicles were in the driveway and an additional five vehicles were parked in front of the home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cA short time later, police stopped three men nearby after they were seen leaving the home,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The homeowner and the three men were all charged under 71(b) of the Health Protection Act for Exceeding Gathering Limits. The fine is $1,000 each.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The incident was one of several over the weekend, which saw six men and one-woman overall face charges related to violating the Health Protection Act.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Also last week, a local business owner was found guilty of violating the Health Protection Act after being charged in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n On April 24, police were notified that staff at a restaurant in Porters Lake were not wearing masks. Police attended and spoke to the staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Two men and a woman were charged under section 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for Failure to Wear a Mask That Covers Their Nose and Mouth While Present in a Public Place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”92″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cpl. Croteau said on April 22, a 62-year-old man from Middle Sackville appeared in court for trial after RCMP charged him in January 2021 under Section 71(1)(b) of the Health Protection Act for failing to wear a mask in public following a complaint at a restaurant in Lower Sackville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was found guilty and ordered to pay a fine of $1,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n RCMP is reminding everyone to follow all Public Health orders, and municipal bylaws. We all need to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
