WAVERLEY:<\/strong> A stream\/brook located just off Highway 118 near the Silversides subdivision in Waverley is a little less polluted\u2014for the time being\u2014thanks to three youngsters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Abi, Martha, and Brody Beaton all came together to spend a nice afternoon outside as a family during the COVID19 lockdown, picking up the litter that landed in a heavy flowing\/stream located just off their home\u2019s property in Silversides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt was all Abi’s idea to do the cleanup,\u201d said proud mom Julie. \u201cEarth day had just passed, and Abi was thinking about how she could help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAbi encouraged all of us to grab a bag.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n And with the encouragement of eleven-year-old Abi, a Grade 5 student at Waverley Memorial School, off they went, with Martha, a Grade 2 student at WMES; and Brody, who is in Grade 8 at G.P. Vanier Junior High, and mom right behind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThis garbage was directly from the highway,\u201d said Julie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What they found in the stream\/brook was a bit disappointing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe found car parts, tons of cans all the way at the base of the stream,\u201d said Julie. \u201cAbsolutely unbelievable and unnecessary.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The four filled four full garbage bags with washer fluid; pop cans; plastic bags; fast food garbage, among the litter they picked up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Julie said Abi, Martha, and Brody were all immensely proud of themselves.
