FALL RIVER:<\/strong> A Fall River volleyball player is heading to the land of Anne to continue playing at the next level of men\u2019s volleyball and for his post-secondary education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Holland College Hurricanes announced Joey Horne, listed at five-foot-10, has committer to the Charlottetown facility for the Marketing and Advertising Management program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Hurricanes play in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Horne has previously played at Lockview High School; Dartmouth Volleyball Club; Dalhousie Tigers Volleyball Club; and the Under-17 Team Nova Scotia Eastern Elites.\u00a0 He has also been a part of the Canada Games training team and was a 2018 Volleyball Nova Scotia provincial all-star.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”8″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the classroom, Horne earned status on the Principals List during his three years of high school with grades of more than 90 per cent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cIt\u2019s always been a goal of mine to play at the ACAA level,\u201d said Horne. \u201cBut finding a school that has an academic program that\u2019s right for me has been just as important.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI\u2019ve heard nothing but good things about the Marketing and Advertising Management program and am very excited to start in the fall.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Horne is described as someone with great ball control and work ethic.\u00a0 His natural defensive abilities help dictate what his opponents do with the ball.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The passion he has for the game and ability to stay in the present will play an important role for the Hurricanes this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe brief conversations that I have had with Joey so far really excite me as his coach,\u201d shared new head coach, Hayden Nichol.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”84″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”6″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n The men\u2019s volleyball \u2018Canes were the ACAA champions in 2017 and 2019, and finished as the runners-up in 2020.
