{"id":22439,"date":"2021-07-17T01:27:31","date_gmt":"2021-07-17T04:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=22439"},"modified":"2021-07-17T01:27:31","modified_gmt":"2021-07-17T04:27:31","slug":"n-s-announces-funding-for-hospital-equipment-renovations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=22439","title":{"rendered":"N.S. announces funding for hospital equipment, renovations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;126&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> The Rankin government is investing $7.6 million in equipment upgrades to ensure hospitals are providing the best care for Nova Scotians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The investment includes new diagnostic, imaging and monitoring equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Our government has been modernizing health-care facilities and equipment across the province to ensure Nova Scotians get the care they need, now and in the future,&#8221; said Health and Wellness Minister Zach Churchill. &#8220;This investment means our hospitals will have the necessary equipment and spaces for our health-care providers to deliver the best possible care.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<br \/><br \/>The investment includes:<br \/>&#8212; $1.7 million to replace the computerized tomography (CT) scanner at Cobequid Community Health Centre<br \/>&#8212; $1.5 million to replace an Interventional Radiology Suite at the QEII Health Sciences Centre&#8217;s Victoria General site<br \/>&#8212; $2.3 million to replace a CT scanner at the QEII Health Sciences Centre&#8217;s Halifax Infirmary site<br \/>&#8212; $2.1 million to replace post-anesthesia patient monitors at the QEII Health Sciences Centre<br \/><br \/>Nova Scotia Health will also initiate a competitive process to obtain a replacement CT scanner and complete any associated renovations at St. Martha&#8217;s Regional Hospital in Antigonish.<br \/><br \/>The following projects have also been approved and will be fully funded by their respective hospital foundations:<br \/>&#8212; $1.5 million to replace the CT scanner at Valley Regional Hospital in Kentville<br \/>&#8212; $1.2 million to renovate and upgrade space at the Strait Richmond Hospital in Evanston, Richmond Co.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;}<br \/><br \/>Quotes:<br \/>&#8220;We are very excited to obtain this new equipment, which will allow our teams to continue to provide advanced, high-quality care to our patients.&#8221;<br \/>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&#8211; Brian Martell, director, Diagnostic Imaging Operations for Central Zone, Nova Scotia Health<br \/><br \/>&#8220;The Valley Regional Hospital Diagnostic Imaging department performs over 16,000 CT scans each year. With a project goal of $1.5 million, the CT for Life Campaign is a collaborative project of Annapolis Valley health foundations in Kings and Annapolis counties.
