While the celebration will be a bit subdued this year due to her medical condition) and COVID-19 restrictions, her family will still make her the star she is on her big day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alan Brown, Sarah\u2019s son who lives in western Canada, told The Laker News in a phone interview his mom was a big community supporter. She always told her children to do their best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen choosing a career, she always told us to pick something that we\u2019re going to love to do and go do it,\u201d he said. \u201cShe always said don\u2019t pick something, but rather because it\u2019s fun to do.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown said his mom was a pretty positive person, even now in her later years as medical issues rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe&#8217;s a happy person and she&#8217;s given a lot to her community,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd of course, back in the early days back in England, she served in the women&#8217;s land army. So, you know, those types of things are what make her our mother and what makes her dear to a lot of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/IMG_0046_NEW.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22542\" width=\"427\" height=\"587\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>He said his mom has seen Fall River go through a huge facelift\u2014including getting the traffic lights at Hwy 2 and Fall River Road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBoy, I remember the year I came home and the traffic lights at the highway,\u201d he said. I remember Neil Miller had a corner store at the bottom of the road.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With Alan living in B.C. that\u2019s meant the eldest son, Edwin Brown, has taken on the role of looking after their mom in N.S.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe goes in to see her two, maybe three times a day,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have caregivers going in for personal needs.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s done a superb job of basically allowing my mom to live in her own apartment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhile he wouldn&#8217;t care about the accolades, it&#8217;s just it&#8217;s hard work. I know it is.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alan said his mom was just one of those people that just had such a unique human being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know I&#8217;m biased on that, but I mean, the influence she&#8217;s had on so many people, how she cared,\u201d said Brown. \u201cI think the biggest thing that people outside of the family would tell you, how she&#8217;s really a person that cares about your well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s more interested in are you OK or is there anything I can do to help you?
