{"id":22583,"date":"2021-07-22T16:05:42","date_gmt":"2021-07-22T19:05:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=22583"},"modified":"2021-07-22T16:05:42","modified_gmt":"2021-07-22T19:05:42","slug":"pcs-release-election-platform-solutions-for-nova-scotians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=22583","title":{"rendered":"PC&#8217;s release election platform &#8216;Solutions for Nova Scotians&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;131&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The following is a release from the NS PC Party.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> Nova Scotians looking for a family doctor, struggling to pay their bills or unable to afford timely universal mental health services, will be provided with solutions under a Tim Houston PC government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The platform titled \u2018<em>Solutions for Nova Scotians<\/em>\u2019 will recruit doctors and rebuild the economy, update the education curriculum to focus on environmental stewardship, financial literacy, and diversity teaching, and enact the toughest environmental penalties in Canada for individual and corporate littering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHealthcare is the issue in this election,\u201d says Houston, \u201cbut for too many Nova Scotians, the problems don\u2019t stop there. We have put together solutions to problems that have been ignored over the last eight years.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anchored by the largest investment in seniors\u2019 care in the province\u2019s history, Houston\u2019s promises will invest more than $553 million into the province&#8217;s economy and chart a course to balance in six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNo one cuts their way out of an economic downturn,\u201d says Houston. \u201cA failure to make the right investments could severely damage our healthcare system and our economy. We are focused on providing solutions for Nova Scotians.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The PCs unveiled solutions to recruit trades workers, immigrants, and bring home Nova Scotians who had to move away for work. With a population goal of two million people Nova Scotians by 2060, Houston has committed to IVF funding for couples struggling to conceive, a $500 tax credit for kids in sports and the arts, and the Better Pay Cheque Guarantee, which will deliver higher wages for workers and incentivize companies to do business in Nova Scotia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is not a platform of promises, it is a platform of solutions,\u201d says Houston. \u201cThis is an ambitious plan to grow our province and we are not going to take the easy road.\u00a0 This won\u2019t be the \u2018same old, same old.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Houston\u2019s solutions have a local focus, and will reverse the destructive pattern of ignoring local voices by centralizing decision-making in Halifax. Houston stressed that services can\u2019t be delivered without community involvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re encouraging Nova Scotians to buy local products, we\u2019re showcasing local communities with tourism dollars, and we\u2019re restoring local decision making to schools and physicians,\u201d says Houston.&nbsp; Government might live in Halifax, but it belongs to everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Other innovative Solutions for Nova Scotians include:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Establishing a chronic illness treatment and prevention program with in-home treatment.<\/li><li>Increase the affordable housing supply by dedicating unused NS Lands.<\/li><li>Providing cancer treatment coverage for volunteer firefighters.<\/li><li>Opening operating rooms beyond 9-5 hours to shorten surgery wait times.<\/li><li>Double the budget for rural roads.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is the time to fix the health crisis, jumpstart our economy and invest in Nova Scotians,\u201d says Houston. \u201cWe are the only party with the courage and the solutions to do that.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;126&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>QUOTES<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m incredibly impressed with the time, effort and thought that has gone into Tim\u2019s plan for the economy of Nova Scotia.
