FALL RIVER: <\/strong>The students involved in an attack on another student at Lockview High this past week have had disciplinary action handed to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The beating, which was recorded on video and posted on several social media networks, took place on Sept. 27 off school grounds near the Fall River high school, where students from Beaver Bank, Waverley, Wellington, Fall River and area attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In the video several students can be seen beating another student, including taking swings and punching the student while he was defenceless on the ground. Other students can be seen just standing around watching the assault take place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”31″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”127″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kelly Connors, spokesperson with HRCE, spoke about the actions the school took upon learning of the video late that day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe use of \u2013 or threat of \u2013 violence in any form is never acceptable and will always be addressed by the school\u2019s administration,\u2019 said Connors. \u201cThe school was made aware of it late in the day and took immediate action.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n She said all parties were interviewed and police were contacted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe students involved have received consequences for their actions in accordance with the Provincial School Code of Conduct,\u201d said Connors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate group=”7″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”34″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n Cpl. Lisa Croteau, with Halifax District RCMP, said RCMP have been made aware of the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe are aware of the video and as a result we reached out to the victim\u2019s family,\u201d she said Oct. 1. \u201cAt this point, we don\u2019t have an ongoing investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Connors said images and videos of this nature are disturbing for many.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cWe would encourage families to have conversations with their children that sharing images and videos on social media can cause further harm to someone who has already been victimized,\u201d said Connors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”84″]<\/p>\n\n\n\n [adrotate banner=”126″]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [adrotate banner=”105″] [adrotate banner=”95″] FALL RIVER: The students involved in an attack on another student at Lockview High this past week have had disciplinary action handed to them.
