{"id":24059,"date":"2021-10-08T22:55:39","date_gmt":"2021-10-09T01:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=24059"},"modified":"2021-10-08T22:55:39","modified_gmt":"2021-10-09T01:55:39","slug":"dowell-leads-jr-b-pens-to-win-in-home-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=24059","title":{"rendered":"Dowell leads Jr B Pens to win in home opener"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>LANTZ:<\/strong> Robbie Dowell scored twice to power the East Hants Junior B Penguins past the Membertou Miners before a crowd of approximately 175 fans at the East Hants Sportsplex on Oct. 8.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Pens home opener, Dowell made sure the Lantz squad sent a statement to their foes from last years NSJHL Final which was cut short after just two games because of COVID19 restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If Friday night\u2019s NSJHL contest was any indication, the two teams could be early favourites to be facing off in the final this year. They don\u2019t meet again until March when East Hants travels to Membertou for that match-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/IMG_7854-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24063\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;8&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;145&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this game East Hants came out firing, but Membertou goalie Hunter Chenhall\u2014and a couple of goal posts\u2014were what kept East Hants at just one goal early on, giving the Miners a shot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But as the game went on the Pens picked up the play and the rust seemed to come off the East Hants squad, and the passes became more crisp and they buried the chances they got.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VIDEO: JR B Pens score<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jr B Pens score!!\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/q1UYVaUUcws?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Chenhall also was unlucky on one goal as it appeared he had it, but it was still visible and loose and the Pens player pounced on it getting it behind the netminder.
