{"id":24147,"date":"2021-10-12T13:14:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-12T16:14:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=24147"},"modified":"2021-10-12T13:14:55","modified_gmt":"2021-10-12T16:14:55","slug":"covid-19-99-new-cases-reported-over-thanksgiving-weekend-130-recoveries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=24147","title":{"rendered":"COVID-19: 99 new cases reported over Thanksgiving weekend; 130 recoveries"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HALIFAX:<\/strong> Over the past four days, since Oct. 8, N.S. has had 99 new cases of COVID-19 and 130 recoveries, the province reported in its release on Oct. 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Twenty-seven new cases were reported on October 9; 16 new cases on October 10; 22 new cases on October 11; and 34 new cases are being reported today, October 12.<br \/><br \/>There are 86 cases in Central Zone, six cases in Western Zone, four cases in Northern Zone and three cases in Eastern Zone.<br \/><br \/>There is community spread in Central Zone, primarily among people aged 20 to 40 who are unvaccinated and participating in social activities.<br \/><br \/>Over the past four days, eight schools were notified of an exposure(s) at their school. As always, all staff, parents and guardians are notified of exposures if a positive case (student, teacher or staff) was at the school while infectious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A list of schools with exposures is available online: <a href=\"https:\/\/backtoschool.ednet.ns.ca\/school-exposures\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/backtoschool.ednet.ns.ca\/school-exposures<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;31&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<br \/><br \/>As of today, Nova Scotia has 197 active cases of COVID-19. Of those, 15 people are in hospital, including two in ICU.<br \/><br \/>Nova Scotia Health Authority&#8217;s labs completed 4,138 tests on October 8; 3,275 tests on October 9; 2,497 tests on October 10; and 2,334 tests on October 11.<br \/><br \/>As of October 11, 1,532,336 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered. Of those, 739,458 Nova Scotians have received their second dose.<br \/><br \/>Since August 1, there have been 1,115 positive COVID-19 cases and four deaths. Cases range in age from under 10 to over 90. There are 914 resolved cases. Cumulative cases may change as data is updated in Panorama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;123&#8243;]<br \/><br \/>Testing advice:<br \/><br \/>Nova Scotians with or without symptoms can book a test at: <a href=\"https:\/\/covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca\/en\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca\/en<\/a> for COVID-19 for COVID-19 testing centres across the province. Those eligible to receive asymptomatic testing are listed at: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nshealth.ca\/visit-covid-19-testing-site\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.nshealth.ca\/visit-covid-19-testing-site<\/a> . Those with no symptoms who do not meet the criteria are encouraged to use one of the rapid testing pop-up sites if they want to be tested. Some public health mobile unit clinics also offer drop-in testing; this will be noted in promotions.<br \/><br \/>Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms is advised to self-isolate and book a COVID-19 test.<br \/><br \/>Anyone advised by public health that they were a close contact needs to complete a full 14-day quarantine, regardless of test results, unless they are fully vaccinated. If they are fully vaccinated at least 14 days before the exposure date, they do not need to self-isolate as long as they are not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. They should still get tested and should monitor for symptoms up to 14 days after the exposure date.
