{"id":25149,"date":"2021-11-25T13:29:41","date_gmt":"2021-11-25T17:29:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=25149"},"modified":"2021-11-25T13:29:41","modified_gmt":"2021-11-25T17:29:41","slug":"unb-reds-womens-soccer-announce-signing-of-emma-crowe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=25149","title":{"rendered":"UNB Reds women&#8217;s soccer announce signing of Emma Crowe"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong>  Two Crowes are better than one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The UNB REDS women\u2019s soccer team is naming Emma Crowe as the first member of its recruiting class of 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The fullback\/centre back, from Fall River, Nova Scotia, has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent, and will join the REDS ahead of the 2022 Atlantic University Sport season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Emma is the sister of current REDS midfielder Olivia Crowe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re pleased that Emma chose UNB, and will team up with her sister Olivia to make this a family affair here in Fredericton,\u201d said REDS head coach Jon Crossland. \u201cWe\u2019re getting a leader and a student-athlete that will make an impact on our team, our athletics department and our community through not shying away from hard work, willingness to face challenges, and positive outlook.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Emma has a confidence about herself and her abilities that will add to our team as we look to a successful 2022 and beyond with Emma in our program.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;8&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;111&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/260464956_1356758144738833_5240128938178201489_n-825x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25151\" width=\"452\" height=\"560\"\/><figcaption>Emma Crowe will join sister Olivia at UNB. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Finishing her Grade 12 year at Lockview High School, Crowe boasts an impressive soccer resume that includes being a member of Lockview\u2019s varsity girls\u2019 team, Suburban Football Club teams, Team Nova Scotia and Nova Scotia\u2019s Canada Games winter soccer program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She\u2019s been part of Atlantic club championship teams at the U13, U15 and U17 levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, Crowe was part of Nova Scotia\u2019s U15 provincial championship team that competed at the national championship tournament, in Edmonton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, she was a member of Suburban\u2019s U17 side that won the provincial banner. That team scored 95 goals while holding opponents scoreless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crowe captained Suburban\u2019s U15 and U17 teams.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2017 and 2018, she attended combines run by the Vancouver Whitecaps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI know the REDS women\u2019s soccer program has a great reputation and history,\u201d she said. \u201cUNB really stood out to me as their Nursing program is one of the best in the country and I believe it will be a great place to grow and start my career.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI really wanted to be part of a school and soccer program with a good team environment and culture, and I believe UNB has programs that will help me reach my full potential, academically and athletically.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;93&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2021, Crowe\u2019s sister, Olivia, saw action in all 12 of the REDS regular season games. She scored once and registered eight shots on goal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The younger Crowe wants to help bring an AUS title to UNB while improving as an individual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to be able to add to the team on and off the field as I join UNB and the REDS in 2022,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m outgoing, organized, hard-working, and I love a good challenge. I\u2019m a very coachable and versatile player. I have a very high forward pass completion rate, I\u2019m comfortable playing out in possession, and I\u2019m a solid one-on-one defender.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEmma has had a lot of success at the club and provincial level, and that championship experience will be valuable for our group as we work towards winning banners during Emma\u2019s career at UNB.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crowe will study Nursing while attending UNB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;84&#8243;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;] [adrotate banner=&#8221;78&#8243;] FALL RIVER: Two Crowes are better than one.
