{"id":25412,"date":"2021-12-07T00:59:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-07T04:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=25412"},"modified":"2021-12-07T00:59:00","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T04:59:00","slug":"councillor-wants-hrm-to-use-helicopter-view-on-traffic-impact-in-fall-river-from-developments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=25412","title":{"rendered":"Councillor wants HRM to use &#8220;helicopter view&#8221; on traffic impact in Fall River from developments"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;95&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong> Residents in the Fall River have posted online curious as to why why developments are looked at individually by HRM when it comes to traffic impacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With five or six developments proposed for the Fall River area, and traffic already headache-like at rush hour, there were several comments on online community pages wondering why each development has its own traffic study, and why HRM doesn\u2019t look at all the developments as one when it comes to the impact traffic from all will have on the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More so, they\u2019d like HRM to consider all of the developments and their impacts on traffic in the area already. A helicopter view, if you will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;7&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Councillor Cathy Deagle Gammon was posed that question during a sit-down interview at her Fall River home as part of the Councillors Corner column. It was a question she asked HRM CAO Jacques Dube during a meeting she had recently with him to talk over several topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe need to have a helicopter view about what is the impact on Fall River of all of this traffic were going to have,\u201d she said. \u201cIf that development should happen at Windgate, we&#8217;re going to have what will happen on Fall River Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;There are developments proposed on McPherson\u2019s Loop, two on Highway 2 in Fall River, and what might happen down on Ingram Drive.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;92&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She calls it an \u201cinteresting opportunity\u201d to get a different look at how all developments are viewed in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have an interesting opportunity, I think, to be able to say about all of these developments, what do we do around the whole traffic management within this community,\u201d she said, \u201cand can we start having that helicopter view when we&#8217;re looking at these development agreements and making decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deagle Gammon said she will be meeting with Peter Duncan, Director and Chief Planner with HRM, soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is in his wheelhouse,\u201d she said. \u201cI want to find out what is our next step.
