{"id":25580,"date":"2021-12-16T00:12:57","date_gmt":"2021-12-16T04:12:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thelaker.ca\/?p=25580"},"modified":"2021-12-16T00:12:57","modified_gmt":"2021-12-16T04:12:57","slug":"health-system-could-feel-significant-impact-if-covid-19-outbreak-not-managed-dr-strang","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/staging-z.thelaker.ca\/?p=25580","title":{"rendered":"Health system could feel significant impact if COVID-19 outbreak not managed: Dr. Strang"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;127&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;105&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>FALL RIVER:<\/strong> The province\u2019s Chief Medical Officer of health is worried if Nova Scotians don\u2019t manage the current spike in COVID19 cases, including the Omicron virus, it could significantly impact the health care system in the province.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Robert Strang expressed that concern in responding to a question asked by The Laker News during the COVID19 Briefing held Dec. 12 in Halifax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said early on the focus was on keeping the spread of the virus limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow it\u2019s about keeping the spread to a level that minimizes the level of severe disease,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Strang said he does have concerns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cReally, our goal, and what I\u2019m concerned about, is if we don\u2019t put some restrictions on now, we have unchecked spread which then puts people who are at higher risk of disease based on age or underlying health conditions at risk,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate group=&#8221;6&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>[adrotate banner=&#8221;34&#8243;]<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>VIDEO of our questions to Dr. Strang.
