FALL RIVER:<\/strong> Parents and guardians of students at Ash Lee Jefferson Elementary and Lockview High were sent home letters from public health notifying them of a COVID-19 exposure at each school, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter home to Ash Lee Jefferson families said the COVID-19 exposure there occurred on Dec. 13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Health is now working to identify and notify students and staff who may have been exposed as a close contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you are not contacted by Public Health, you are not considered a close contact,\u201d said the letter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter continued saying that they remain confident the school is a safe place for students and staff, and our school will remain open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf needed, Public Health will recommend additional enhanced measures. We will notify families if this happens,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The provincial Education department had previously announced that schools last day for the Christmas break was Dec. 17, and they are not to return until Jan. 6, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the letter home, it asks families to at this time continue to review the COVID-19 Daily Checklist<\/a> each day to closely monitor your health and the health of those you care for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The letter to Lockview High families says the school was notified by Public Health of at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 at the school. Close contacts to that case were notified last Sunday, Dec. 12, the letter from Lockview Administration said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It indicates they have to take direction from and follow all Public Health protocols when communicating with our families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have not received information from Public Health regarding any additional positive cases,\u201d the letter continued. \u201cHowever, if someone has contacted you to say that you may be a close contact to a positive case, we encourage you to get tested.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It goes on to say they will communicate with families before the Jan. 6 return date with information about any new school routines\/expectations that may need to be in place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe sincerely hope that the break is restful and enjoyable for all of our families,\u201d it concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
